Bunkering License for Port of Sohar / Oman

On Monday, Matrix Marine Holding GmbH (Matrix Marine) jointly with its partner Oman Oil Marketing Company SAOG (Omanoil) committed to the establishment of world class bunker operations in the Port of Sohar, Oman. In Muscat, HE Maqbool Ali Sultan, Minister of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of Sohar Industrial Port Company SAOC (SIPC), signed for SIPC with the joint venture between Matrix Marine and Omanoil.
The Port of Sohar has conducted a competitive tendering process selecting the most qualified operators for such service for its port. The port consists of an increasing number of industries as well as modern expanding terminals.
From Mid June 2010, Matrix Marine and Omanoil will offer marine fuels of different grades to vessels calling the port or staying at the anchorage area. The close proximity to international shipping lanes and especially traffic out of and into the Straits of Hormuz makes this port a promising destination for establishment of such service.
